Changing careers, at age 39, Gary Bass left the business world, with experience in sales & marketing, insurance, management, mortgage banking and as an entrepreneur and business author. His on-going journey of self-discovery and search for spiritual growth led him to become a psychotherapist. He has been in private practice for over 13 years and has a background working in a variety of environments including; hospital settings, EAP, adolescent residential treatment, community mental health, juvenile detention and corporate settings. He facilitates personal development workshops, 4 and 5 day intensives in the mountains, professional training programs, anger and stress management workshops, relationship and communication workshops, Life Directions programs and a variety of other life-enhancing seminars and workshops.
Gary teaches present focus, along with a healthy awareness of the past. The processes he teaches have come out of his own experiences and journey. We all have to deal with the effects of change and change is always uncomfortable—from a little discomfort to feeling strong fear of the unknown. Calmness and comfort are found in knowing how to deal with the process of change, fear, the unknown and knowing how to redesign life's undesirable ruts. Gary believes in and teaches about the necessity of utilizing a creative imagination in life—at work, in relationships and for one's personal life.
He believes each of us yearns to have Deep Discussions—to be able to acknowledge and talk about what is most important, most interesting or concerning. Facilitating desired change necessitates that we honor what is inside, what we want in and from life and that we have the courage to take the necessary footsteps toward desired goals. Gary offers an understanding, accepting and safe environment for that exploration. Of particular interest is helping people to define their beliefs and values, as pertains to their personal and professional life. He helps them determine where their passion lies and assists them in realigning with, redesigning or restructuring their personal and professional goals, beliefs, values, interests and vision.
In addition to public and professional programs, Gary offers personal, professional and executive life coaching, for individuals. He enjoys living with a creative imagination and loves imparting to others a means for creating Life Directions, manifesting dreams and facilitating desired life changes. He makes his home, with his wife, Mary Kay, in Virginia's beautiful Shenandoah Valley, between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny mountains, which he loves to observe from his side porch, sitting on the porch swing with Mary Kay.
